Consumer unit upgrade in Killamarsh, S21

An older plastic Hager consumer unit with a single shared RCD was replaced with a modern metal consumer unit providing individual RCBO protection, surge protection and spare capacity for future circuits.
The project

Truvo was asked to upgrade an older plastic Hager consumer unit at a property in Killamarsh, S21. The existing arrangement used a single shared RCD, meaning one fault could affect several circuits together.

The upgrade

The older board was removed and replaced with a modern metal consumer unit. Individual RCBO protection was provided for the circuits, together with surge protection to help protect connected electrical equipment from transient overvoltages.

Future capacity

The replacement board also includes spare ways, leaving sensible capacity for future additions or alterations without overcrowding the consumer unit.

Photographs of the original and completed installation will be added before this case study is published.
