Washing Machine Electrical Supply
A new electrical supply installed for a washing machine located within a bathroom, using a flush-mounted fused connection unit and a carefully planned cable route to minimise disruption to the finished property.Truvo Electrical Solutions was asked to provide a new electrical supply for a washing machine being installed and subsequently boxed into the corner of an existing bathroom.
With the room already finished, one of the main priorities was finding a suitable installation method without unnecessarily lifting floorboards or causing significant damage to the surrounding walls and finishes.
The existing ring final circuit in the adjoining bedroom was inspected and tested to confirm its suitability before the new connection was made.
From there, the new supply was routed externally in conduit, before passing back through the wall at the required position within the bathroom.
Rather than installing a standard socket outlet, a flush-mounted fused connection unit (FCU) was provided for the washing machine. The accessory was positioned outside the relevant bathroom zones and installed with consideration given to the requirements for electrical equipment within a bathroom environment.
Care was taken when forming the opening for the new flush-mounted accessory, allowing the FCU to be installed neatly into the existing wall with minimal disruption and no unnecessary damage to the finished surface.
The washing machine was due to be boxed in following our visit, leaving the customer with a discreet permanent electrical supply positioned exactly where it was required.
The completed alteration was inspected and tested before being put into service.
