Eicrs guidance
Should you get an EICR before buying a house?
An EICR can give a buyer a clearer picture of the fixed electrical installation before renovation plans or unexpected defects become their responsibility.A survey may mention the age of the fuse box or visible accessories, but an EICR involves inspection and testing of the electrical installation within an agreed scope.
What to consider
Results can identify danger, potentially dangerous defects, recommended improvements or areas requiring further investigation. It is not a guarantee that no future fault will occur.
Warning signs and safe next steps
Arrange access, confirm whether the property is occupied and share known alterations such as extensions, solar equipment, EV charging or outbuilding supplies.
What helps Truvo assess the job?
Provide a clear description of the problem or planned work, the Sheffield postcode, access details and safe photographs of finished equipment only. Never remove a screwed cover or expose electrical parts for a photograph.
From initial advice to a quotation
An online enquiry can establish the likely scope, but a formal quotation follows review of the property details and any necessary inspection or testing. Every installation is different, so final design and price must reflect the actual conditions.
